Geographical and Historical information from the year 1868.

"KIRK DEIGHTON, a parish in the upper division of the wapentake of Clare, in the West Riding of the county of York, 2 miles N.W. of Netherby. It is situated between the rivers Nidd and Wharf, and contains the townships of Kirk Deighton and North Deighton. The village is small and wholly agricultural. The surface is undulating, with a substratum of limestone, which is largely quarried for manure. The living is a rectory* in the diocese of Ripon, value £901, in the patronage of the Rev. J. Geldart. The church is dedicated to All Saints. There is a chapel for Wesleyan Methodists, and a school endowed by Sir Hugh Palliser, with £30 per annum. The other charities amount to about £25 per annum."
