March 1570-1. Body to be buried in the parish church of Leeds, in the north allowe, near unto my stoulle.
To my wife my tenement in Kirgaite for life, rent fre except the yearly outrent, during her widowhood,
and also paying to the r . . . .yearly, after her marriage, during her life, 20s. Robert I, and William
I., my brethren. To Thomas Iles, James I., and Henry I., my sons, my close called Cowe Close, in the
Hillowebanks, for 20 years, and the remainder to Raffe I., my son, and b. app. and his hrs. for ever,
on condition that he pay T. I., J. I., and H. I., at that time £20, to be equally divided. To Edith
I., Anne I., Elizabeth I., and Frances I., my daus., all my tacks and leases upon my close in Leeds Woodhouse
Feilds, and of the close which I have of William Arthingtonne, and my moiety of the grounds in the Hilhowsebanks,
to be equally divided. My wife to have all the interest of my other tacks and leases. Residue of my
goods to be equally divided in three parts - one for the performance of this will: one to the said Elizabeth,
my wife; and the other equally divided amongst my children. To the poor, 10s. All the streite forgainst
all my tenement in Kirgat to be payed to the mid streite ther, and also beyond the mid strete xx yeards
in lengthe, and one yeard in breide. Every one of my daus. to have their child's part of £20 a piece.
To the child in my wyfe's wombe the residue of the said part, with the said yearly rent of 20s. upon
my house. If she be not with child, this to be divided amongst my wife and children. Elizabeth, my
wife, Thomas, James, and Henry, my sons, executors; and my brethren above mentioned, supervisors.
