July 1576, and was proved 4th October 1576. Body to be buried in the Parish Church of Leeds, "nere
unto the stale or pue there wher Elizabeth, now my wife, usethe to sett". The said Elizabeth to have
her third and dowrie of my lands, &c., and her thirds of my tacks, leases, &c., during her widdowheade,
and the moytie of my messuage, &c., where I now dwell in Kirkgate, during her widdowheade. After her
decease or marriage, to my son Thomas C., his heirs and assigns. To my said son Thomas, the other moitie.
Also my close, called the Greate Ing, containing 4 acres, near to the Crosse Grene, in Leeds, now in
my occupation, on condition that he pay to my four daughters, Alice C., Isabel C., Margaret C., and Elizabeth
C., 26£, 13s, 4d., to be equally divided as they come to the age of 21 years or are married. To my
son Edward C., his heirs, &c., my close in Burmantofts forever, on condition that he pay to my said four
daughters 10£ to be equally divided. Also to my son Bryan C., his heirs, &c., my close in Hilhouse Banks,
with all my howses, cottages, and edifices, sytuat and buylded in Hilhouse Banks, on condition that he
pay to my said four daughters, 10£., to be equally divided. To the said Elizabeth, my wife, my close
lying in BlackBanke, with my interest and term of years in the same. To Edward, my son, and his assigns,
my tenement at Tymble Bridge, and the moitie of the croft thereunto belonginge, in the occupation of
Edward Becrofte, and my lease &c., in the same. To the said Bryan C., my son, and his assigns, my
other tenement at Tymble Bridge, and the other moietie of the said croft. To Agnes Swallowe, my daughter,
4£. Executors : Elizabeth, my wife, Thomas, Edward and Bryan C., my sons. Witnesses : Alexander
Fawcet, Vicar of Leeds; William Mathew; William Arthington; Alexander Benson; Henry Kitchyn; with other
moo. -
