The former Parish Church of St. Paul, Cross Stone

The former Parish Church of St. Paul, Cross Stone
This building was, for most of its life the Church Day School for St Pauls, Cross Stone (but had ceased to be this I guess early in the 19th century) when it became the parish centre for that parish - excellent rooms for drama and youth work (I used it for a Senior School from Halifax camp in 1966!) Part was sub let to a joinery firm. Then when St Paul's Church was declared redundant this 'Sunday School' was converted into a church and served as the Parish Church of St. Paul's, Cross Stone. Then when places of worship in Todmorden were 'rationalised' this church was declared redundant and was snapped up by a firm of funeral directors who renamed it 'The Old School Chapel, Priestwell'. Parishioners always knew it as "Priestwell". [Leslie Greenwood, May 2004]
