Saint Johns

[Transcribed information mainly from the early 1820s]

"SAINT JOHN'S, a parish-town, in the township of Throapham, upper-division of Strafforth and Tickhill, liberty of Tickhill; 6 miles from Tickhill, 8 from Rotherham, 50 from York. Pop. included in Throapham. The Church, peculiar, is a perpetual curacy, in the deanry of Doncaster, value, p.r. £33. 8s. 6d. Patron, the Lord Chancellor."


"LANGOLD, in the township of Letwell, and parish of Saint John's, upper-division of Strafforth and Tickhill; (a seat of John Galley Knight, Esq.) 4 miles from Worksop, (Notts.) 5 from Tickhill."


"LETWELL, in the parish of Saint John's, upper-division of Strafforth and Tickhill, liberties of St. Peter and Tickhill; 5½ miles SW. of Tickhill and Worksop, (Notts.) 9 from Rotherham. Pop. 135.
