      [1] To all People to whom this P(rese)nte writeing shall come Daniell Rich of Smallshawe in the County of Yorke yeoman and Charles Usher of Dodworth in the said County yeoman send greetings [2] in our Lord ev(er)lasting. KNOW yee that wee the said Daniell Rich & Charles Usher for Div(er)s good causes & consideracons us hereunto moveing HAVE given graunted b(ar)gained sould enfeoffed [3] confirmed AND by these p(rese)nts SOE give graunt b(ar)gaine sell enfeoffe & confirme unto John Greenwood of Southill in the said County yeoman his heires & assignes forever ALL that one Messuage [4] Cottage or tenem(en)t with thapp(ur)ten(e)ces scituate lying & being in Thurgoland within the p(ar)ish of Silkstone in the said County of Yorke AND all the houses edifices buildings barnes stables orchards [5] gardens Tofts Crofts lands Tenem(en)ts & p(re)misses whatsoev(er) thereunto belonging or app(er)taining and therewithall used occupied or enjoyed & late in the tenure & occupacon of one George Harrison deceased or of (his?) [6] assignee or assignes AND also the several Crofts or p(ar)cells of ground arrable meadowe or pasture comonly called or knowne by the sev(er)all name or names hereafter menconed (that is to say) one close of arrable la(nd ) [7] meadowe or pasture comonly called or knowne by the name of great Dickin paddack heretofore divided into two p(ar)tes & now into three p(ar)tes, one close of arrable land meadowe or pasture comonly called or knowne by the [8] name of the Paddack or by what other name or names the same are called, one sp(ri)ng wood containeing by estimacon one acre & a half of land be the same more or lesse, one close of arrable land meadowe or pasture [9] comonly called or knowne by the name Broome close, one close of arrable land meadowe or pasture comonly called or knowne by the name of the Croft, one close of arrable land meadowe or pasture comonly called or [10] or knowne by the name of Broad Croft and one p(ar)cell of ground arrable meadowe or pasture comonly called or knowne by the name of Little lane or by what other name or names (what)soever the same are called AND [11] alsoe all other houses edifices buildings lands tenem(en)tes & p(re)mises with thapp(ur)ten(en)ces late in the tenure or occupacon of him the said George Harrison dec(eased) or of his assignee or assignes under the demise of Lyon [12] Bamford Esq(ire) by Lease but in being under the yearly Rent of seaven pounds, and alsoe one close of arrable land meadowe or pasture comonly called or knowne by the name of great Rasin? Intack, one close of [13] arrable land meadowe or pasture comonly called or knowne by the name of Huthwaite Lee, AND one close of arrable land meadowe or pasture comonly called or knowne by the name of Long Lands now or late (in) [14] the tenure and occupacon of Priscilla Bamford widdow or of her assignes also under the demise of the said Lyon Bamford att the yearly Rent of Nyne pounds AND alsoe all and all manner of Tythes [15] & grayne Hay wooll & Lambe & all other Tythes whatsoev(er) yearly & from time to time comeing growing & upon the p(re)mises with thapp(ur)ten(en)ces AND on Rencon? & Rencons? remainder & remainders [16] all & singular p(re)mises above graunted with thapp(ur)ten(en)ces and all the estate right tythe interest clayme & demannde whatsoev(er) of them the said Daniell Rich & Charles Usher or either of them of in & [17] the said graunted p(re)mises & of in & to all & ev(er)y pi(ec)e & p(ar)cell thereof with thapp(ur)ten(en)ces AND all deeds evidences & writeings touching & concerning the firme and true copyes of all such other writeings & [18] touch or concern the same together with any other lands or tenem(en)ts any now being in the posession & either of ye the said Daniell Rich [& Charles Usher (insert)] or of our assignes or which wee concerne unto without suite in law [19] TO HAVE AND TO HOULD the said Messuage Cottage tenem(en)t Tofte Crofte Lande Tenem(en)ts rentes heraditam(en)tes & all other the p(re)mises above menconed with their & eine? of their app(ur)ten(en)ces unto [(insert) the said John Greenwood his heire and assignes to the only proper use & behoof of] [20] the said John Greenwood his heires & assignes forever TO bee helde of the Cheif Lord or Lordes of the of the Fee or Fees thereof by the rents & services therefore henceforth due and of right accustomed AND [21] I the said Daniell Rich & my heires ALL the said Messuage or Tenem(en)t Land Tenem(en)ts & p(re)mises above menconed and ment to be graunted b(ar)gained & sould as aforesaid unto the said John Greenwood his [22] heires & assignes to the only p(ro)p(er) use & behoof of the said John Greenwood his heires & assignes against me the said Daniell Rich & my heires & all & eny other p(er)son or p(er)sons clayming by from or under us [23] or any p(er)sones shal & will warrant & forever defend by these p(re)sentes AND I the said Charles Usher & my

      heires ALL the said Messuage or Tenem(en)t Lands Tenem(en)ts & p(re)misses above menconed & ment to be graunted [24] b(ar)gained & sould as aforesaid unto the said John Greenwood his heires & assignes to the only p(ro)p(er) use & behoof of the said John Greenwood his heires & assignes against me the said Charles Usher & my heires [25] & all & ev(re)y other p(er)son & p(er)sons clayeming by from or under us or any of us shall and will warrant & forever defend by these p(rese)nts. IN witnesse whereof the said Daniell Rich & Charles Usher [26] have hereunto sett our hands & seales the eight & twentieth day of Januarie In the yeare of our Lord god according to the Computacon of the Church of England One Thousand Six Hundred ffiftie Three.

[28] (En)dorsed thus Sealed & deliv(er)d & allsoe full & peacable possession & seizen was had & deliv(er)d by the within named Daniel Rich & Charles Usher in their p(ro)p(er) p(osse)sons unto the within named John Greenewood [29] in his p(ro)p(er) p(osse)son of & in the Messuage within menconed in the names of all the Lands & p(re)mises within exp(re)ssed the day and year first within written IN the p(rese)nce of John Hobson, Richard Flather, [30] William Senior his marke S, John Staniland his marke J S:
      [31] (Endo)rsed alsoe thus M& (Memorandum) that the Thirtith day of Januarie One Thousand Six Hundred ffiftie & Three, Willm. Senior, John Staniland & Mary Harrison wid(ow) tenants of the p(re)mises within menconed [32] did afforn(amed) tenants unto the within named John Greenwood by the delivre of ev(er)ie one of them six pence in the name of Afforenam(e)d & have hereunto subscribed their names their names Willm.
