"WADWORTH, is a village, in the parish of its name, (which has no dependent township) in the same wapentake as Tickhill, 3 miles n.w. from that town. It is a place of but little trade, the making of malt being the only branch of any consequence. The places of worship are the parish church, dedicated to St. Mary, and a chapel for Wesleyan methodists. The living is a discharged vicarage, in the patronage of the impropriator of the parish. The parish contained, at the last census, 690 inhabitants.
