WESTON:
Geographical and Historical information from the year 1868.

"WESTON, a parish in the upper division of Claro wapentake, West Riding county York, 2 miles N.W. of Otley. The village is situated on the N. side of the vale of Wharfdale. The parish contains the hamlet of Askwith. The living is a vicarage* in the diocese of Ripon, value £60. The church is dedicated to All Saints."


"ASKWITH, (or Asquith), a township in the parish of Weston, and wapentake of Claro, in the West Riding of the county of York, 3 miles to the N.W. of Otley. The village is in a pleasant situation on the river Wharfe. Snowden is a hamlet of this township"


"UPPER SNOWDEN, (and Lower Snowden) hamlets in the township of Askwith, parish of Weston, West Riding county York, 2 miles N.W. of Otley."
