The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland - 1868

In 1868, the parish of Ardristan contained the following places:

"ARDRISTAN, a parish in the barony of Rathvilly, in the county of Carlow, province of Leinster, Ireland, 2 miles to the S.W. of Tullow. It lies on the south-western bank of the river Slaney, and consists chiefly of meadow land. The living is a perpetual curacy in the diocese of Ossory, Ferns, and Leighlin, value £87, in the patronage of the bishop. The reins of the parish church are on the townland of Ardristan."
