The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland - 1868

In 1868, the parish of Kineagh contained the following places:

"KINEAGH, a parish partly in the barony of Rathvilly, county Carlow, and partly in the barony of Kilkea, county Kildare, province of Leinster, Ireland, 2 miles W. of Rathvilly. Castledermot is its post town. The surface is level, and the soil mostly good. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Dublin, value £116, in the patronage of the vicars-choral of St. Patrick's, Dublin. The church was built by the late Board of First Fruits in 1832. Newtown, Philips, Bettyfield, and Ricketstown are the chief residences."
