The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland - 1868
In 1868, the parish of Rahill contained the following places:"RAHILL, a parish in the barony of Rathvilly, county Carlow, province of Leinster, Ireland, 1 mile N. W. of Rathvilly. It is 2¼ miles long, and 2 broad. The surface for the most part is good, and is watered by the river Slaney. The parish is crossed by the road from Tullow to Baltinglass. The living is a curacy forming part of the benefice of Rathvilly. There are two free schools. It has the ruins of an old church. The principal seats are Broughilstone House and Rahill Cottage."
