- Corofin (Coradh Finne--Fine's weir). A small market village some 13 km from Ennis, south east of Lake Inchiquin. Sir Frederick Burton (1816-1900) painter and director of the National Gallery, London, was born in Corofin House. Corofin is the centre of a complex of lakes which form part of the Fergus headwaters. They offer excellent game and coarse fishing and some are of special scientific interest.
