The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland - 1868

In 1868, the parish of Pollrone contained the following places:

"POLLRONE, a parish in the barony of Iverk, county Kilkenny, province of Leinster, Ireland, 3 miles S.E. of Pilltown. Sairville is its post town. It is 5 miles long by 1 mile broad. The surface is drained by the river Suir towards the S. It consists of a very fair soil. It is traversed by the road from Clonmel to Waterford. The living is a vic, in the diocese of Ossory, value with two others, £216. The church is in ruins. There is a Roman Catholic chapel in the neighbourhood. There are two or three day-schools, and a Sunday-school. Pollrone House is the principal seat in the vicinity.

"MOONCOIN, (or Mountcoin), a post-office village in the parish of Pollrone, barony of Iverk, county Kilkenny, province of Leinster, Ireland, 6 miles W.N.W. of Waterford.
