LOUGHBRACCAN, a parish, in the barony of LOWER-SLANE, county of MEATH, and province of LEINSTER, 2 miles (E.) from Nobber, on the mail road from Dublin by Slane to Londonderry; containing 493 inhabitants.
It comprises 2074 statute acres, as applotted under the tithe act; the land, which is of good quality, is partly in tillage and partly in pasture. It is a rectory, in the diocese of Meath, entirely appropriate to the see: the tithes amount to £111. 11. 7¼. For the performance of clerical duties it forms part of the perpetual curacy of Nobber; and in the R. C. divisions, part of the union or district of Drumconra. The ruins of the old church, which stand on the summit of a hill, have a striking appearance.
