The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland - 1868

In 1868, the parish of Dysart contained the following places:

"DYSART, a parish in the barony of Athlone, in the county of Roscommon, province of Connaught, Ireland, 8 miles S.S.E. of Mount Talbot, its post town. It lies near the river Suck. The surface is rocky and boggy, and includes a portion of Lough Culleen. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Elphin, value with Tessaragh, £111, in the patronage of the bishop. There is a large Roman Catholic chapel, also a parish school. Limestone is quarried."
