RAYLESTOWN, or VILLARAILE, a parish, in the barony of MIDDLETHIRD, county of TIPPERARY, and province of MUNSTER, 3 miles (S. E.) from Cashel; containing 290 inhabitants. This parish comprises 861 statute acres, as applotted under the tithe act.

It is a rectory, in the diocese of Cashel, forming part of the union of Fethard: the tithes amount to £73. 16. 11. In the R. C. divisions also it is part of the union or district of Fethard. There is a pay school, in which about 50 children are taught.
