The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland - 1868

In 1868, the parish of Llanedy contained the following places:

"LLANEDY, a parish in the hundred of Carnwallon, county Carmarthen, 7 miles N.E. of Llanelly, its post town, and 10 from Llandilo Fawr. It is situated on the river Llwchwr, and the line of railway to Llandilo Fawr passes through' the neighbourhood. Coal is found in this district. The living is a rectory in the diocese of St. David's, value £258. The church is dedicated to St. Edith. The Independents and Calvinistic Methodists have chapels. This was the birth-place of Walters, compiler of a dictionary of the Welsh language. A fair is held on the 8th November, for horses, cattle, and pedlery."
