The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland - 1868

In 1868, the parish of Talley contained the following places:

"TALLEY, a parish in the hundred of Cayo, county Carmarthen, 7 miles N. of Llandilo Fawr, its post town, and 7 from Llangadock. It is a station on the Llanelly and Vale of Towey railway. The village is situated on a branch of the river Towey or Cothi. The parish includes Cefnblaidd, Eskernant, Gwastade, Llanfihangel, and Treathnelgan. At Tal-y-Llychau, "head of the lakes," are ruins of a Premonstratensian priory cell to Welbeck Abbey, founded by Rhys-ab-Gruffydd. At the Dissolution its revenue was valued at £186; and the site given to the Williams family."

"TRAETH-NELGAN, a hamlet in the parish of Talley, county Carmarthen, 9 miles N. of Llandilo-Fawr."

"TREATHNELGAN, a hamlet in the parish of Talley, county Carmarthen, 8 miles N. of Llandilo."
