The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland - 1868

In 1868, the parish of Treleach Ar Bettws contained the following places:

"TRELEACH-AR-BETTWS, a parish in the hundred of Elvet, county Carmarthen, 7 miles N.W. of Carmarthen, its post town, and 18 from Cardigan. It is a petty sessions town and considerable village, containing, in 1861, 1,456 inhabitants. In the vicinity is Crug-y-Dyrn, a cairn 180 feet in height, and 210 feet in circumference. The living is a vicarage* in the diocese of St. David's, value £143, in the patronage of the bishop. The church is dedicated to St. Teilo. The parochial charities produce about £137 per annum, which go to Davis's school. The Independents have a chapel."
