The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland - 1868

In 1868, the parish of Llanrhydd contained the following places:

"LLANRHYDD, a parish in the hundred of Ruthin, county Denbigh, 1 mile E. of Ruthin, its post town, and 7 miles S.W. of Mold. It is situated within a short distance of the river Clwyd, and has a chalybeate spring. The workhouse for, the Llanrwst Poor-law Union is in this parish. The living is a rectory annexed to that of Ruthin-Wardenship, in the diocese of St. Asaph. The church, dedicated to St. Mengan, has been recently restored through the munificence of G. Johnson, Esq., of Plâs Llanrhydd. It contains an interesting monument to the Thelwall family. The parochial charities amount to about £6 per annum. In the immediate neighbourhood are Bathafarn Park, a seat of Lord Bagot, and Cefn Coch."
