GLYN-NEATH is a large village and station of the Neath Vale Railway, about 9 miles north-east from Neath. in the county of Glamorgan; it is in the hamlet of Neath Higher and parish of Cadoxton-juxta-Neath. The extensive gun powder mills of Messrs. Curtis and Harvey and the Dinas fire brick works are at Pontneathvaughan, on the borders of the village, but in the county of Brecon. The neighbourhood is a famous resort for tourists, on account of the beauty of the surrounding scenery and thenumber of mountain streams, which, descending through deep ravines, make falls of considerable height and much beauty.

ABERPERGWM is an ecclesiastical district in the parish of Cadoxton. The church of St. Catwg is a neat stone building, with chancel, nave and porch. The living is a vicarage, annual value about #100, in the gift of Morgan Stewart Williams, esq., and held by the Rev. John George.

GLYNCORRWG is a parish on the opposite bank of the river Neath, in Neath union, county court district and hundred, rural deanery of Upper Gro Neath, and archdeaconry and diocese of Llandaff. The church (name unknown) is a small ancient stone building, in the Early English style, and consists of chancel, nave, square tower, and porch. The living is a vicarage, in the gift of Major Lee, and held by the Rev. David Griffiths, M.A., of Jesus College, Oxford, who is also vicar of Resolven.

BLAENWRACH is a hamlet in Glyncorrwg parish. There is a small church here which is a chapel of ease to Glyncorrwg. The area of Glyncorrwg, including Blaenwrach, is 11,294 acres; gross estimated rental, #6,387; rateable value, #5,476; and the population in 1861 was 602.

RESOLVEN is a scattered hamlet and railway station, in the parish of Lantwit-juxta-Neath, about 6 miles north-east from Neath, in the Neath union, county court district and hundred, rural deanery of Upper Gro Neath, and Archdeaconry and diocese of Llandaff. The church (name unknown) is a neat brick building, in the Pointed Gothic style, containing nave, chancel, porch with belfry and 2 bells. The living is a vicarage, in the gift of the Marquis of Bute and held by the Rev. David Griffiths, M.A., of Jesus College, Oxford, who is also vicar of Glyncorrwg. There are several handsome residences in the neighbourhood, among which may be named Rheola, the seat of Mrs. Vaughan, and Ynislas, the residence of Miss Williams. The area is4, 560 acres; gross estimated rental, #4,268; rateable value, #3,864; and the population in 1861 was 762.
