In 1868, the parish of St Fagans contained the following places:
"ST. FAGAN'S, a parish in the hundred of Dinas Powis, county Glamorgan, 4 miles W. of Cardiff. The river Ely passes through the parish. Here Colonel Horton defeated Stradling in 1648. The living is a rectory* in the diocese of Llandaff, value with the curacy of Llanilterne annexed, £417. There are some small charities producing about £3 per annum. The manor belongs to the Amherst family."
