WICK, with the parishes and villages of Llandow, Marcross and Monknash

WICK is a parish and village in the county of Glamorgan, about 5½ miles from Bridgend, its post town, and the same from Cowbridge; it is in the Bridgend and Cowbridge union and county court district. The Earl of Dunraven is lord of the manor. The church is dedicated to St. James. The living is a perpetual curacy, annexed to the vicarage of St. Bride's Major, in the gift of the Turberville family. Two other places of woship are a chapel for Baptists, and one for Calvinists; there is also a school on the National system. Population in 1861, 432; in 1871, 384.

LLANDOW, or Llandwr, is a parish, about 5 miles from Bridgend, its post town, union and county court district of Cowbridge. The parish church is the only place of worship in the parish. The living is a rectory, in the patronage of Jesus College, Oxford. Population in 1861, 133 and in 1871, 117

MARCROSS is a small parish, close by the Bristol Channel, and about 2 miles from Wick, and in the same union and county court district as that place; it is about 7 miles from Bridgend, and 8 from Cowbridge. The principal landowners are John Whitlock Stradling Carne, Esq., D.C. L.. Sir Ivor Bertie Guest, Bart, and others. The church is dedicated to the Holy Trinity. The living is a rectory, in the patronage of the dean and chapter of Llandaff. There is also a National school. In theparish, at the Nash Point, are town lighthouses, known as the Nash Lights. Population in 1861, 91, and in 1871, 83

MONKNASH is a parish near the sea, about 7 miles from Bridgend, its post town, and 8 from Cowbridge. Alan Cameron Bruce Pryce, Esq., is lord of the manor and principal landowner of the soil. The church is dedicated to St. Mary. The living is a perpetual curacy, in the patronage of the lord of the manor. Population in 1861, 141, and in 1871, 103
