The long term aim of this project is to extract, proof read and translate the separate chapel entries from the above volumes, the process currently excludes the counties of BRE, DEN, FLN & MON.
Apart from chapel histories per se, any accompanying biographies are sometimes curtailed at extraction, and usually only summarised in translation.
There will unfortunately be residual errors in the extraction, proof reading and translation processes, we all do our very best bearing in mind the sheer scale of the task, and our varying abilities.
Translations may not be as technically word perfect as some might wish for, but should hopefully convey the meaning intended in the original.
The first listing is the NAMES only of the 836 chapels/places from each county's contents page from the CD; entries are in the same order as in the books - which are written entirely in Welsh
First page numbers only are shown (not for DEN, FLN, BRE & Lloegr) - the size of an entry can be estimated relative to the entry that follows it.
I have not taken into account any corrections/additions included in the books' appendices. [Gareth Hicks - project commenced Dec 2007]

The four volumes of Hanes Eglwysi Annibynol Cymru by Thomas Rees & John Thomas were issued over the period 1871-1875. Together they provide complete coverage of the thirteen ancient Welsh counties up to the early 1870s, including Monmouthshire.
In actual fact John Thomas published a fifth and supplementary volume in 1891, mainly to continue his accounts of the previously-covered chapels by adding the later 1870s and the 1880s, and also to add the newer chapels established during these intervening years.
He further included a number of illustrations, together with the histories of a small number of Welsh independent chapels in England.
This project has only had access to the first 4 volumes.
