Welcome to Genuki, Lincolnshire, Wainfleet All Saints Submitted by Garth Swanson -------------------------------------- In the 50's we visited Gibraltar Point when we were children and saw a beached boat where our great grand parents lived in the late 19th century. They were ALLENBYs who had married WILKINSONs. Both were fisher families. Last week my sister revisited the Point and wrote "We had a very interesting time, there was no beached boat but went to the information and local study centre who gave me a photocopy of some old photos, including an old boat known as NOAH'S ARK, from which root beer was sold to sailors in the 19c, and was lived in by the PERRINs for a time. It was probably also lived in at other times by other families and the recorder of local history is going to contact me, apparently he is a great enthusiast. Other known family names were MOODY, PINDER and SMITH. Someone else said the coastline has changed radically, even in the last four years according to storms and drifting of silt. We looked round and went for some very wet walks, also were told at the centre that two old dwellings had been demolished by the army in recent times nearer to the point, but we didn't get there." -------------------------------------- Added 10-April-2004
