"ASHBY FOLVILLE, a small village and parish in East Goscote Hundred and Melton Mowbray Union and County Court District, situated on the bank of a rivulet, near the Burrough hills, 6 1/2 miles S.S.W. of Melton Mowbray, and 10 miles N.E. by E. of Leicester. Its parish, including Barsby township, has an area of 3013 acres, and had 447 inhabitants in 1871. Ashby Folville township has 1983 acres and 174 inhabitants."
