Ashby Folville

"ASHBY FOLVILLE, a small village and parish in East Goscote Hundred and Melton Mowbray Union and County Court District, situated on the bank of a rivulet, near the Burrough hills, 6 1/2 miles S.S.W. of Melton Mowbray, and 10 miles N.E. by E. of Leicester. Its parish, including Barsby township, has an area of 3013 acres, and had 447 inhabitants in 1871. Ashby Folville township has 1983 acres and 174 inhabitants." The 1851 Census for Leicestershire has been indexed by the Leicestershire & Rutland Family History Society. The whole index is available on microfiche. The society has also published it in print and Volume 22 covers the Somerby Sub-District which includes Ashby Folville.

The Society of Genealogists holds copies of parish records including baptisms and burials from 1584 - 1812, marriages from 1584 - 1837 and microfiche copies of burials from 1813 - 1876.
