10th May 1831MELANCHOLY EVENT AT Bottesford near Belvoir Castle on the afternoon of Saturday week, 30th April. It appears that the floor of the privy of the BULL INN of that place composed of wood and which was over the vault, three or four yards in depth, had for some time been in an insecure state, and at the above-mentioned time, four children from 9 to 12 years of age, went into the place and were dancing upon the floor when it gave way and the whole of them went down with it, and all were suffocated in the soil before any help could be obtained. One of the children was the daughter of Mr. David HOE, the Landlord, one the daughter of Mr. GEESON, grocer, one that of Mr. John SUTTON, fellmonger, and the other that of Mr. DAWN, Breather Hills near Barrowby, who the day previous had come to her aunt´s house at Bottesford to receive her education. He was instantly bled by Mr. SNAITH, and in a few hours had quite recovered.LINCOLN, RUTLAND & STAMFORD MERCURY
29th July 1831On Wednesday last, the 20th inst., at Grantham during a funeral of a woman named WORTHINGTON, her daughter who had followed her to the grave, and was just returning home, fell into a fit in the arms of the attendants: every means to restore animation proved of no avail - the vital spark had fled for ever. The deceased lived as a cook at the Cock Inn, Eaton, Bedfordshire, where she was much respected, and was to have been married in a few weeks - What rendered the circumstances still more awful was, that her brother, who had also followed their mother to the grave, fainted at the same time, and was carried home insensible: he has since recovered.LINCOLN, RUTLAND & STAMFORD MERCURY

24th February 1832Death: On the 28th ultimo was found dead in her apartment in the Workhouse at Bilsby near Alford, Elizabeth BRUFF, spinster. Though she had long been quartered on the Parish funds of Bilsby, £35 was found in her cupboard, tied up in a piece of old stocking and it is thought she had property elsewhere. With the aid of two tame crows and a favourite hen, she practised in the occult sciences for which she was in high fame among the frail damsels who search after destinies; two of these were the last persons that saw her alive, which was about thirty-six hours before she was found lying cold and stiff across the hearth of her apartment.DRAKARD´S STAMFORD NEWS

2nd May 1834The absconding of a confidential clerk to an attorney at Boston with over £800 of his employer´s money, is another melancholy illustration of the lost morality of the times, when oaths and obligations of good principles are treated as mere matters of convenience. The young gentleman took some Deeds to Lincoln, received the Purchase-money, and instead of returning to Boston, went to Hull and took shipping for America. His name is PLUMB: he was clerk to Mr COOKE; the sum he received was £843 and he sailed from Hull on Friday last in the St Mary (Captain GIBB), bound for Quebec.LINCOLN, RUTLAND & STAMFORD MERCURY

One of them being in bed when they went to the house, made his escape out of the window with nothing on but his shirt, and showed real game, taking hedges and ditches, roads and ploughed fields, without shoe or stocking, and closely pursued through 7 (seven) parishes for the whole day; night coming on, and the hunters running by sight, not by scent, lost him and were compelled to give in.
