1st January 1875Public Notice; Whereas I, John NUNDY, of Wispington, Farmer, have raised a report calculated to injure the characters of the Sons of Mr Joseph WALTER of Barsey Walk, Farmer, and Mr Andrew EVISON of Wispington, Farmer, by charging Mr WALTER´s Sons with taking my Pigeons, and Mr EVISON with receiving them, knowing them to have been so taken. Now I do hereby publically declare that such charges are utterly untrue and without foundation, and I regret having said anything that could reflect on the honesty of either Mr. WALTER, his Sons, or Mr. EVISON, all of whom I believe to be perfectly honest and honourable men. 7th April 1877Fatal Accident at North Thoresby - On Wednesday evening last an inquest was held at the house of Police Constable MARKHAM, North Thoresby, before T SHARPLEY, Esq. MD (Coroner) touching the death of Anthony STOVIN, who was on Monday night knocked down in the village by a dog-cart, and died immediately afterwards. It seems the deceased was 64 years of age and was very deaf. About twelve months ago he had been knocked down by a conveyance and was seriously injured. He had, however completely recovered from the effects of this accident and appeared to have grown much stronger. It is a singular fact that the deceased has had many narrow escapes of being killed, having met with no fewer than 13 or 14 accidents. The night on Monday was very dark, and the deceased besides being deaf had been frequently heard to say that he could not see very distinctly at times. No blame whatever appears to be attached to the driver of the cart, who was proved to have been driving in a careful manner and at an ordinary rate of speed. The following gentlemen were sworn on the jury: Richard JOHNSON (Foreman), George JANNEY, John SHEPHERD, William JOHNSON, William B. OAK, Ralf BURNHAM, William MARTIN, William BACON, Daniel L PATCHETT, Stephen FOSTER, Robert SHAW and William BELL.THE LOUTH & NORTH LlNCOLNSHIRE ADVERTISER
