"BADGER, (or Bagsore), a parish in the hundred of Brimstree, in the county of Salop, 5 miles to the N.E. of Bridgnorth. Shiffnall is its post town. It is situated on the border of Staffordshire, and was formerly a detached part of Wenlock liberty. It is watered by a small stream, a feeder of the Severn. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Hereford, value £230, in the patronage of R. H. Cheney, Esq. The church is dedicated to St. Giles. Badger Hall stands in a pleasant spot, and the grounds contain a charming dingle."
