"WENTNOR, a parish in the hundred of Purslow, county Salop, 5 miles N.E. of Bishop's-Castle. The village is situated on the river Onny, under Long Mynd Hill. The parish contains the hamlets of Adston, Home, Kinnerton, and Medlicott, and the Bog lead mines, which are productive. There is a woollen manufactory. The living is a rectory,* value £200, in the patronage of the Dean and Canons of Christ Church, Oxford. The church is dedicated to St. Michael. There is a chapel for the Independents, and a school partially endowed."
