"BARRINGTON, a parish in the southern division of the hundred of Petherton, in the county of Somerset, 4 miles to the N.E. of Ilminster, its post town. Flax and hemp are grown extensively in this neighbourhood. The living is a perpetual curacy in the diocese of Bath and Wells, value £84, in the gift of the Dean and Chapter of Bristol.
