Devizes is a town 22 miles NW of Salisbury, 17 miles SW of Swindon. Grid SU005615. Post code SN10 5EZ. Population 4,562 in 1831, 7,897 in 1951. That population includes the parishes of St John the Baptist, and St Mary the Virgin. The town is on the Kennet and Avon Canal.
