"BRETFORTON, a parish in the upper division of the hundred of Blackenhurst, in the county of Worcester, 4 miles to the E. of Evesham, its post town. It is situated on the border of Gloucestershire, and the village stands in one of the most pleasant spots in the Vale of Evesham. The living is a vicarage* in the diocese of Worcester, of the value of £182, in the patronage of Admiral Morris. The church is dedicated to St. Leonard. There are some charities of small value. The parish has an area of 1,683 acres."
