BOLTON UPON DEARNE:
Geographical and Historical information from the year 1868.

"BOLTON UPON DEARNE, a parish in the northern division of the wapentake of Strafforth and Tickhill, in the West Riding of the county of York, 7 miles to the N. of Rotherham. It is a station on the Midland railway. Goldthorpe is a hamlet of this parish. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of York, of the value of £88, in the patronage of Marsden's executors. The church is dedicated to St. Andrew. The parochial charities, consisting chiefly of bequests for education, by Richard Bingley and Elizabeth Pashley, amount to £19 a year. A statute fair is held on the second Thursday in November."
