[Transcribed information from the early 1820s]

"GARFORTH, a parish-town, in the lower-division of Skyrack, liberty of Pontefract; 3 miles S. of Aberford, 7 from Leeds, 9 from Wakefield, 19 from York. Pop. 731. The Church is a rectory, dedicated to St. Mary (see Churches for photograph), in the deanry of the Ainsty, value, ~£8. 17s. 8½d. Patron, the Rev. W. Whitaker, the present incumbent."


"BARROWBY HALL, in the parish of Garforth, wapentake of Skyrack, and honour of Pontefract; 6 miles E. of Leeds."
