The Church of St. Mary the Virgin, Hunslet. Founded in 1636 however there was a simple church building on the site in the late 15th century.
The current church tower was consecrated in 1864 ( the actual 1864 church building was was rebuilt in aprox. 1975
leaving just the original tower standing as of to-day) as can be seen in the photograph. There was also a sister
church St Oswald's, Moor Road, Hunslet Carr errected in 1889 built of red brick with seating for 400.
This building was demolished in the 1960's for re-development of the Hunslet Carr area. Stuart Bailey 2008
