"BISHTON, (or Bishopstone), a parish in the lower division of the hundred of Caldicott, in the county of Monmouth, 6 miles to the E. of Newport. Caerleon is its post town. The living is a perpetual curacy in the diocese of Llandaff, value £51, in the patronage of the archdeacon. The church is dedicated to St. Cadwalader."
