"BRYNGWYN, a parish in the lower division of the hundred of Ragland, in the county of Monmouth, 6 miles to the W. of Monmouth. Ragland is its post town. It is not far from the Coleford, Monmouth, and Usk railway. The living is a rectory* in the diocese of Llandaff, value £200, in the gift of the Earl of Abergavenny. The church is dedicated to St. Peter. There are charitable endowments for the benefit of the poor, amounting to about £10 a year."
