"HENLLIS, a parish in the upper division of the hundred of Wentllooge, county Monmouth, 5 miles from Caerleon, and 4 from Newport, its post town and railway station on the Great Western line. It is situated on a branch of the river Usk. The living is a perpetual curacy in the diocese of Llandaff, value £40. The children of this parish attend the free school at Bassaleg, founded by Rowland Morgan."
