  • Burton was a township in Tarvin ancient parish, Eddisbury hundred (SJ 5064), which became a civil parish in 1866.
  • The population was 71 in 1801, 99 in 1851, 53 in 1901, 42 in 1951, and 50 in 2001.
  • The civil parish was abolished in 2015 and incorporated into Duddon.
