- Clive was a township in Middlewich ancient parish, Northwich hundred (SJ 6766), which became a civil parish in 1866.
- In 1936 the civil parish was abolished to become parts of Winsford and Stanthorne
- It included parts of Clive and Clive Green (the remaining parts being in Stanthorne civil parish).
- The population was 102 in 1801, 155 in 1851, and 147 in 1901.
