  • Darnhall was a township in Whitegate ancient parish, Eddisbury hundred (SJ 6463)., which became a civil parish in 1866.
  • Included the hamlets of Ashbrook (part), Beauty Bank, School Green (part only until 1936), and Smithy Bank.
  • The population was 197 in 1801, 186 in 1851, 300 in 1901, 212 in 1951, and 214 in 2001.
