"HUNTINGTON, a township in that part of the parish of St-OSWALD-CHESTER, which is in the lower division of the hundred of BROXTON, county palatine of CHESTER, 3 miles (S. S. E.) from Chester, containing 133 inhabitants. The township is bounded on the west by the river Dee, which is crossed by a ferry to Ecclestone."   • Huntington was a township in St. Oswald's ancient parish, Broxton hundred (SJ 4263), which became a civil parish in 1866.
  • It includes the hamlets of Butterbache (part), Cheaveley and Saighton Camp.
  • The population was 111 in 1801, 129 in 1851, 121 in 1901, 2614 in 1951, and 1961 in 2001.
