"WEAVERHAM, a parish in the second division of the hundred of EDDISBURY, county palatine of CHESTER, comprising the townships of Acton, Crowton, Cuddington, Onston, Wallerscoat, Weaverham cum Milton, and the lordship of Weaverham, and containing 2360 inhabitants, of which number, 749 are in the township of Weaverham cum Milton, 3¼ miles (W by N.) from Northwich. The living is a vicarage, in the archdeaconry and diocese of Chester, rated in the king's books at £12. 11. 10½., and in the patronage of the Bishop of Chester. The church is dedicated to St. Mary. The interest of £100, left by Mary Barker, is applied for apprenticing poor children, as is also a rent-charge of £2, bequeathed by Mr. Mobberley. Here is a charity for six poor decayed housekeepers and their wives, or for deserving widowed or maiden women, selected by the vicar."   • Weaverham (or Weaverham cum Milton), also a township in the ancient parishes of Weaverham and Whitegate, Eddisbury hundred (SJ 6172), became a civil parish in 1866.

"WEAVERHAM, a parish in the second division of Eddisbury hundred, county Chester, 3¼ miles N.W. of Northwich, its post town, and 1 mile E. of the Acton station on the London and North-Western railway. It is situated on the river Weaver. The parish contains the townships of Acton, Crowton, Cuddington, Ouston, and Wallerscoat. The soil consists of a sandy loam, with a subsoil of sand and clay. The living is a vicarage* in the diocese of Chester, value £325, in the patronage of the bishop. The church, dedicated to St. Mary, was erected in the reign of Elizabeth, and was restored in 1855 at an expense of upwards of £1,000; it contains a stained window, the gift of Mrs. Stanhope, and several tablets. The parochial charities produce about £115 per annum, of which £55 go to Barker's free grammar school. There is a National school, at which a Sunday-school is also held. The Wesleyans and Primitive Association Methodists have each a chapel. J. S. Barry, Esq., is lord of the manor. There are two annual fairs for the sale of pigs."

"ACTON DELAMARE, a township, village, and railway station of the London and North Western, in the parish of Weaverham, and hundred of Eddisbury, in the county palatine of Chester, 4 miles to the N.W. of Northwich, and 172 miles from London. It is situated on the river Weaver, at the bridge, which was built of the remains of Vale Royal Abbey, and is a station on the London and North Western railway. A branch of the Chester canal passes through the township."

"CROWTON, a township in the parish of Weaverham, hundred of Eddisbury, in the county of Chester, 5½ miles W. of Northwich; its post town, and 5 from Warrington. It is situated on the river Weaver, near the Grand Junction canal. The charities amount to about £10 per annum. There is a chapel for Primitive Methodists. Mr. Barry's trustees are lords of the manor."
