"ASTON-by-SUTTON, a chapelry in the parish of RUNCORN, hundred of BUCKLOW, county palatine of CHESTER, 3 miles (E. by N.) from Frodsham, containing 197 inhabitants. The living is a perpetual curacy, in the archdeaconry and diocese of Chester, endowed with £200 private benefaction, £200 royal bounty, and £600 parliamentary grant, and in the patronage of H.   • Aston by Sutton was a township and chapelry in Runcorn ancient parish, Bucklow hundred (SJ 5778), which became a civil parish in 1866.
  • In 1936 the civil parish was abolished to become part of Aston.
  • The population was 186 in 1801, 218 in 1851, and 249 in 1901.
