- North Rode was a township in the ancient parishes of Prestbury and Gawsworth, Macclesfield hundred (SJ 8866), which became a civil parish in 1866.
- It includes the hamlets of Ethels Green and Rode Heath.
- The population was 256 in 1801, 277 in 1851, 276 in 1901, 236 in 1951, and 178 in 2001.
