Church History

An ancient parish church, originally serving the townships of Low Oulton and Wettenhall, and parts of the townships of Marton and Over.

The district was affected by the following boundary changes:

  • 1720 — reduced when the township of Wettenhall was transferred to Wettenhall: St. David.
  • 1863 January 13 — reduced when part of the township of Over was transferred to Over: St. John the Evangelist.
  • 1876 May 30 — enlarged when the township of Darnhall was transferred from Whitegate: St. Mary.

The district included the chapel of Winsford: Christ Church (1844-1974).
