  • Preston Brook was a civil parish (SJ 5780) created in 1936 by uniting part of Norton with Preston on the Hill
  • It includes the hamlets of Barkers Hollow, Cottons Bridge, Norton Crossings, Preston Brook, Red Brow, and Tunnel Top (part).
  • The population was 401 in 1951, and 716 in 2001.

Historical Geography

  • 1936 April 1 — Created from part of Norton (185 acres, pop. 42 in 1931) and the whole of Preston on the Hill (1154 acres, pop. 355 in 1931)
  • 1967 April 1 — Lost part to Runcorn  (151 hectares, pop. 220 in 1961)
  • 1992 April 1 — Gained parts of Daresbury and Runcorn, and lost part to Daresbury
