It was founded in 1854.

Church History

On 30 September 1856 it became the district church for the township of Sale (previously served by Ashton upon Mersey: St. Martin).

The district was affected by the following boundary changes:

  • 1868 June 15 — reduced when part of the township of Sale was transferred to Baguley: St. John the Divine.
  • 1884 December 31 — reduced when part of the township of Sale was transferred to Sale: St. Paul.
