"ST. VEEP, a parish in the hundred of West, county Cornwall, 3 miles N.E. of Fowey. The village is situated midway between Fowey and Lostwithiel. The parish is bounded on the W. by the navigable river Fowey, on the N. by the Leryn, and on the S. by Penpol Creek. The surface is hilly, and the soil fertile. There are remains of a small religious house founded by the Earl of Cornwall as a cell to the priory of Montacute, in Somersetshire. The living is a vicarage* in the diocese of Exeter, value £320. The church is dedicated to St. Cyricius. The Wesleyans have a chapel, and there is a parochial school.

"HIGHER PENPOUL, a hamlet in the parish of St. Veep, county Cornwall, 4 miles S.E. of Lostwithiel, and 9 S.W. of Liskeard. It is situated at the confluence of the rivers Trebant and Fowey.
